Dornoch Outdoor Where to Fish...![]() Where to Fish...Brown Trout Lochs There are two lochs in the Dornoch area, both within easy reach from the town centre to the loch side. Permits can currently only be sold for bank fishing at these lochs. Bank fishing is still allowed at Littleferry (south side only). Littleferry is a tidal estuary offering Sea-Trout fishing by spinning or fly. For further information and permits contact Dornoch Outdoor or on 01862 811111 or 07740589717. The lochs that we currently sell permits for are: Laoigh, and Buidhe. Family fishing : Loch Laoigh (pronounced "Lee") is close to the town and stocked in addition to the natural supply of Brown trout. Car access is close to the lochside and there is a boathouse with picnic facilities. Salmon & Sea Trout fishing : Estuary bank fishing with fly or spinning is available at Loch Fleet around full tides. Wild Brown Trout fishing : Loch Buidhe ("Booey") is within a half hour’s drive and cars can be taken to the lochside, the boats being within a short walking distance. Good quality brown trout are available on Loch Buidhe, and fine scenery and good sport can be enjoyed. Loch BuidheWild Brown Trout fishing the two lochs , Loch Buidhe ("Booey") and Loch Laggain ("Lagan") are within a half hour’s drive and cars can be taken to the lochside, the boats being within a short walking distance. Good quality brown trout are available on Loch Buidhe with smaller fish on Loch Laggain, both lochs enjoying fine scenery and good sport.Loch LaoighLoch Laoigh, Gaelic for - the loch of the calf, is half a mile long, 300 yards wide and sheltered by surrounding hills. Holds wild brown trout which average ½ lb with and a few much larger fish. Dornoch and District Angling Association also stocks the water with trout between llb and 21b. Boat and bank fishing are allowed. |
